We are in discussions with the local 8/26 Calder Valley Scout troop about them using Riverside as a permanent base for water activities and camp training. In 2021 they used the site on an ad hoc basis, and it was found to be ideal for their needs.
UCVR Community Development director Peter Hirst said “Bringing the Scouts on site means we are showing inclusive use of the site for all parts of the community. We can expand the relationship with the regional scouting movements and begin to develop Riverside as centre for things like the Duke of Edinburgh Awards”.
